4th Annual ATA Beginning Teacher Institute

Join us for the 4th Annual ATA Beginning Teacher Institute: Great Minds Don’t Think Alike!

The ATA Beginning Teacher Institute is a professional learning opportunity for all Arizona teachers preparing for their first, second, or third year in the classroom.

Specifically made for new teachers, this year’s three-day event will help set the stage for you to both learn and apply brain-based strategies and to build community with other new Arizona teachers. This year’s event facilitator, Marcia Tate, is the author of multiple bestselling books, including Worksheets Don’t Grow Dendrites: 20 Instructional Strategies That Engage the Brain and Preparing Children for Success in School and Life: 20 Ways to Increase Your Child's Brain Power, all based in brain science and her deep background working in education.

While engaging in classroom brain-based engagement strategies, Marcia will also shift the focus from classroom strategies for use with students to positively impact learning principles based on brain research for teacher health and happiness from her newest publication Healthy Teachers Happy Classrooms: Twelve Brain-Based Principles to Avoid Burnout, Increase Optimism, and Support Physical Well-Being.

This year's Beginning Teacher Institute will also include a special interactive time with the musical, community-building group Drum Cafe.

Teachers will build community through:

  • Connections during breakout groups
  • Whole group instruction
  • Time to reflect on what has been working and what can be refined as we move into the next school year.
