National Board New and Continuing Candidate Kickoff and Writer’s Workshop — Virtual
The 2026-2027 National Board New and Continuing Candidate Kickoff and Writer’s Workshop is the perfect time to meet and collaborate with other candidates from around the state who are also pursuing National Board Certification.
Participants will take a deep dive into the three writing styles needed to complete their written portfolio: descriptive writing, reflective writing, and analytical writing. Participants will spend time reviewing the written commentary prompts and identify the keywords that would elicit a descriptive, analytical, or reflective response.
Participants will learn strategies on how to use the Architecture of Accomplished Teaching and the National Board Scoring Rubrics as planning documents. This will be helpful for all candidates as they begin to map out the instruction and lesson planning that will be needed for each component.
Participants will also have the chance to meet many of our Candidate Support Providers and facilitators who work statewide. We will provide direction and motivation for new candidates looking to “kickoff” their pursuit of National Board Certification as they highlight their accomplished teaching in practice.
