If you’re anything like me, spring break sneaks right up on you, and you’re left fumbling for plans. But not this year!

We’ve got you covered. Adventurous? In need of some you-time? Got a family? On a budget? No need to fear — here are some fresh ideas for the perfect Arizona spring break plans.

 

Outdoor Adventures

Antelope Canyon
A great destination for those of us with kids, this slot canyon on Navajo land outside of Page is formed by rainwater erosion, creating smooth, curving walls of sandstone.

Havasu Falls
If you’re up for a challenging hike, grab your trail boots and plenty of water and head to Havasu Falls. A blue-green waterfall located in the Grand Canyon, this place could easily be mistaken for paradise on Earth.

Casa Grande Ruins
Tour an ancient Sonoran farming community and view historical artifacts in this Coolidge gem.

Daisy Mountain Railroad
Take a scenic ride on 2,800 feet of track in the Anthem community park.

Staycation Destinations

For many of us, the ideal spring break means lounging in bed with a book or by the pool with a fruity drink. If you’re in the market for a staycation, check out these resorts

Festival Fun

Be sure to look into these upcoming don’t-miss events!

• Thieves Market, an antique and homemade item flea market, runs on Saturdays through April 6 at Big Surf water park in Tempe.

• Roots N’ Boots Queen Creek rodeo, dance, carnival, and petting zoo promises a good time to all! This one’s held March 16-18.

• Maricopa’s 14th Annual Salsa Festival is being held March 24.

 

Indoor Escapes

Get out of the heat and experience the great indoors at these local fun spots.

• Arizona Museum of Natural History (Mesa) is so much more than the “dinosaur museum”! Head here and get your knowledge on.

• Butterfly Wonderland (Scottsdale) hosts the nation’s butterfly pavilion. Thousands of butterflies fly freely around the tropical atrium, and guests can even catch a 3D educational film.

• AZ Ice (Arcadia, Gilbert, Peoria) can keep you cooler than cool with public skating on weekdays and weekends.

• Penske Racing Museum is FREE and boasts an awesome collection of racecars, trophies, and memorabilia.

• The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson boasts 98 acres of pristine wilderness, combined with a natural history museum, aquarium and art gallery.
