ATA Beginning Teacher Institute: Creating an Inclusive Classroom

The ATA Beginning Teacher Institute: Creating an Inclusive Classroom is the opportunity you have been waiting for! Are you looking to build community with other educators, and learn and apply new strategies to impact your classroom? Then, this event is just what you need!

The Arizona K12 Center invites all Arizona teachers preparing for their first, second, or third year in the classroom to join us online for these three days of learning. You will have opportunities to connect and learn with others through dynamic keynote speakers, workshop-style general sessions, engaging breakouts, and a panel question-and-answer with veteran educators.

The ATA Beginning Teacher Institute will feature these outstanding educators:

  • Sarah Brown Wessling, the 2010 National Teacher of the Year, the Teacher Laureate for the nonprofit Teaching Channel, writer, blogger, and educational consultant
  • Cornelius Minor, a Brooklyn educator who established The Minor Collective, a community-based movement designed to foster sustainable change in schools.
  • Julie Causton, founder and CEO of Inclusive Schooling and former professor in the Inclusive and Special Education Program at Syracuse University
  • Michelle Doherty, the 2017 Arizona Teacher of the Year, an Arizona Teachers Academy mentor, and an adjunct faculty member for Northern Arizona University

Teachers will build community through:

  • Connections during breakout groups
  • Whole group debrief discussions
  • Time to reflect on what has been working and what can be refined as we move into the next school year
