We’re continuing to provide the distance learning support you want.

Dec 09, 2020

The Arizona K12 Center has been partnering with national education leaders to bring the kind of support teachers and leaders have been seeking while navigating how to teach during the ongoing pandemic.

In September, we welcomed Douglas Fisher on to the 3Ps in a Pod podcast to share about how he worked with Nancy Frey and John Hattie to reach out to teachers across the country to hear and collect their experiences. What they learned became The Distance Learning Playbook, the resource for what we know works best for teaching in our current situation paired with the insights of the Visible Learning experts Fisher, Frey, and Hattie.

This book, published in June, has led to a whole series of Distance Learning Playbook publications, including The Distance Learning Playbook for Parents and The Distance Learning Playbook for College and University Instruction.

As we did with the original edition of The Distance Learning Playbook, we are bringing learning opportunities to Arizona educators to expand from the knowledge available in these new books.

Here are the two events we have planned for early 2021 to help continue to support your work.

The Assessment Playbook for Distance and Blended Learning Virtual Workshop with Vince Bustamante and Doug Fisher
January 23; register by January 12 at this link

How do you do assessment when you’re teaching virtually or needing to balance all the aspects that go into blended learning? Harnessing the insights and experience of renowned educators Douglas Fisher, Nancy Frey, and John Hattie, The Assessment Playbook for Distance and Blended Learning applies the wisdom and evidence of Visible Learning® research to understand what works best in our current teaching situations. Spanning topics from teacher-student relationships, teacher credibility and clarity, instructional design, assessments, and grading, this book and event covers the research- and evidence-based strategies teachers can mobilize to deliver high-impact learning in an online, virtual, and distributed environment.

The Distance Learning Playbook for School Leaders Virtual Workshop with Nancy Frey
February 3; register by January 22 at this link

Nancy Frey will be facilitating this professional learning opportunity specifically for school and district leaders. Since March 2020, administrators and leaders have been figuring out how to do school in a pandemic as the crisis unfolded. But starting now, leaders have the opportunity to prepare for leading schools through distance learning with purpose and intent—using what works best to accelerate students’ learning all while maintaining an indelible focus on equity.
