Technology

Technology has advanced to a central role in our culture. No longer just relevant to a few people with a special aptitude, technology is now integrated into our everyday life. This is especially the case for students, members of the so-called digital natives, who are truly at home with technology. So it's no surprise that technology has become vital to K-12 education as well.
The Arizona K12 Center is committed to supporting educators in expanding the use of technology both in the classroom and beyond. Whether you are a digital novice, or are seeking to broaden the understanding and comfort level you already have, we are here to help. From data assessment and lesson design to classroom communication and special projects, we help you gain the technological fluency you need to move your practice forward. How do you integrate technology to engage the learners in your classroom? We are here to help provide solutions, ideas, and strategies.
Discover the Technology Integration Matrix
The Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) supports districts, schools and educators in infusing technology into their classrooms. The Matrix associates five interdependent characteristics of meaningful learning environments with five levels of technology integration. The learning characteristics are: active, constructive, goal directed, authentic, and collaborative. The technology levels are: entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and transformation.
This five by five matrix yields 25 cells, each containing two lesson plans accompanied by brief videos of each lesson. Each lesson is designed to show technology in action in the classroom. As a whole, the Technology Integration Matrix serves as an extensive, yet easy to use, resource for educators seeking to deploy technology to enrich meaningful instruction.

In education as elsewhere, technology is advancing at an unrelenting pace. While new developments offer educators new opportunities, the options can be confusing, and all the other demands on a teacher's time can make it hard to keep up. At the Arizona K12 Center, we're focused on those key technologies that most impact classroom teaching while still being affordable and time efficient.
Our key technologies and their applications are gleaned from proven classroom use and include interactive capabilties, collaborative tools and online publishing. Our purpose is to help you navigate the maze of options to identify those capabilities and solutions that enrich your curriculum, engage your students and support your teaching goals. Keep up with key teaching technologies by reading the blog and attending events.
