Scholarships and Funding

Through Arizona’s Master Teacher Program, funding is available for a limited number of scholarships for teachers to pursue National Board Certification. This year our program is changing. For the 2012-2013 cycle, we are providing two levels of funding assistance for all Arizona teachers who meet the requirements of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (i.e., hold a bachelor’s degree, completed three full years of teaching/counseling experience, possess a valid state teaching/counseling license for that period of time). The requirements for the two different levels are listed below:

All teachers seeking National Board Certification will need to pay the $500 non-refundable deposit to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards by October 1, 2012. All scholarship applications must be received by 4:00PM on May 11, 2012. Funds will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We fully anticipate expending all funds so we encourage early application.  Please note that a scholarship application may be submitted before the registration fee of $65 is paid to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.  Applications will be accepted from only those individuals who have completed a National Board Pre-Candidacy Class. These classes are typically offered free of charge in school districts throughout the state as well as IDEAL and the Arizona K12 Center.

Pursuing National Board Certification is an experience like no other. While rigorous, it is one that brings great rewards. Please contact Jessica at jsquire@azk12.org should you have any questions about the scholarship application. The Arizona K12 Center looks forward to supporting you on your journey towards National Board Certification.
