Camp Plug & Play 7.0 offers a world-class professional development experience where participants dive into one of six topics for the week. Each strand is taught by knowledgeable and patient trainers who have a strong passion for empowering teachers and students with technology.
Registration includes your own room Monday until Friday and delicious breakfasts and lunches. Most importantly, you receive practical instruction and lots of hands-on time so that you leave with new knowledge, skills, and confidence to use what you’ve learned in your classroom.
The week kicks off with an inspirational keynote presentation by Wesley Fryer, author of Playing with Media. After the keynote, participants meet in their learning strands where they will spend the rest of the week learning and creating. In addition to direct instruction and work time, Camp Plug & Play offers evening breakout sessions about popular topics.
Another evening session is Ignite Night. Campers are invited to make five-minute presentations consisting of exactly 20 slides which are shown on the screen for exactly 15 seconds each.
To make sure the technology works smoothly, the Arizona K12 Center provides a MacBook for each participant to use during the day. Although you might not be a Macintosh user, what you learn at camp will certainly be applicable to computers running Windows.

Camp Plug & Play is a great way to spend some of your summer! This is your opportunity to join a group of Arizona educators who, like you, are passionate about engaging today's students in their learning.
Fantastic Films
From instructional movies in the classroom, to YouTube movies on the internet, the world of multimedia and movies has influenced the way we learn and the way we teach. Harness the enthusiasm your students have for movies into an engaging, standards-appropriate learning experience. You will use video footage and iMovie '09 to create Public Service Announcements (PSA). This camp strand will explore cross-curricular examples of student produced movies, the filmmaking process from initial idea to final presentation, equipment discussion, classroom management tips, and how filmmaking impacts student learning. You will have lots of hands-on time for producing an educational PSA for your classroom. Videos will be under 3 minutes in length and will include titles, transitions, and special effects enhancements.
One of the special effects is chroma key, which is a technique for mixing two images together. Participants will have access to green screens for filming. Using iMovie '09, it's easy to replace the green background with an image or video, giving the illusion of the actors being in a different time or place. iMovie will be used to import, edit, and export movies. While iMovie is not available for Windows, some of the features can be found in Movie Maker and other Windows software titles.
In Fantastic Films, you will:

* Practice useful filming techniques and camera angles
* Discuss classroom management
* Find free and copyright-friendly music, sound effects, and images online
* Use a green screen to insert a background behind actors
* Write, film, edit, and share a classroom relevant PSA with titles, music, and special effects
