The Arizona K12 Center’s Professional Learning Plan (PLP) Toolkit is designed to support educators, as they explore areas of professional passion and practice. This training will not only reconnect participants with the “why” of what they do, but also it will provide the tools needed to conduct personalized inquiry cycles, engage with other professionals committed to their practice, and the materials needed to determine the correlation between professional learning and its impact on student growth.

Over the course of the three learning sessions, participants will have the opportunity to explore the components of the Toolkit, learn how to cultivate rich learning communities, collect data based on learning, and reflect on the effectiveness of implementation. These sessions will help participants identify the knowledge, skills, and disposition necessary for professional growth and will help identify ways in which individualized ambitions align with system initiatives, as well as the needs of educators and students. The PLP Toolkit will help build capacity in all educators at all points along the professional continuum.

The Professional Learning Plan Toolkit will offer increased accountability, while drawing on natural curiosities. These learning sessions will provide a guide for school- and/or district-wide professional learning by creating space for individualized goal setting, establishing norms and protocols for meetings, as well as prompting reflections throughout the professional learning inquiry cycle.

The reflective component of the Professional Learning Plan Toolkit will guide educators through a practice-based inquiry process. Participants will cultivate learning by gathering evidence and reflecting on how their learning impacts students. The Reflective Tool is a place to document learning throughout the inquiry cycle. This can be used in conjunction with other documentation instruments to demonstrate commitment to students and their learning. 

Participants will:

  • Develop a sound understanding of the Professional Learning Inquiry Cycle and what can be done to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Build a community of professionals engaging in autonomous, self-directed learning aligned to school/district initiatives.
  • Reconnect with and explore what drives your professional passion and inspires you to stay committed to education.
