LeAnna Wolkis is back again to provide a training designed especially for Pre-K through second-grade educators!

Do you find yourself looking for a way to connect teaching with proof of your students’ learning? Are your classroom walls competing for prime real estate because every inch of bulletin board and chart space must be worthy and have an instructional purpose? Would you like to incorporate opportunities for building confidence, inspiring independence in daily routines, which teaches children how to show their thinking and present evidence that demonstrates understanding in their final product? If you are seeking effective and efficient ways to answer these questions, then join us for a memorable workshop where you will learn ways to make thinking visible using charts to anchor new learning that is connected to prior knowledge.

You will learn how to create or enhance your classroom environment so that students can achieve through the use of visuals, which stimulate and organize their thinking. Find ways to foster a mindset where all learners can benefit from schema-based instruction that allows them to see themselves as readers, writers, scientists, historians, and mathematicians! Come see the benefits in padding your classroom with interactive resources that your independent learners will access when answering questions, contributing to discussions, problem-solving, and looking for clarification. All these resources will serve as reminders that produce increased student understanding. Through this workshop, you will gather a variety of resources that can help you bring about the interconnection between the research-based Four Cs (communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity), while setting your learners up for success in the 21st-century world.

Participants will:

  • Explore student-friendly ways to actively engage and demonstrate learning through the use of anchor charts.
  • Learn how to create schema-based instructional anchor charts that foster reading, writing, science inquiry, math problem-solving, and exploration of the world around us in cross-curricular ways.
  • Gather resources and ideas that can be put into practice in your classroom the very next day, which will support classroom management, organization, and the setting of expectations.
