Screencast: Using Audacity

Audacity IconAudacity is widely-used software for recording, editing, and exporting audio. It's widely-used because it's free and there are versions for Macintosh, Linux, and Windows computers. Audacity is often used by podcasters as it provides a great way to create an audio show. It's easy to record voices and add music and sound effects. Tough times require us to search out new opportunities.

One of the fundamental facts about working in K-12 education is that no matter what is happening around us, we can never lose sight of our focus: providing kids with the best possible education. Personally, I’m no less passionate about this purpose and neither is the staff at the Arizona K-12 Center.

Like virtually everyone in the education community in Arizona, we’ve undergone significant cuts in funding. Yet our mission is no less urgent. If anything, the need to help teachers enhance their practices and become more accomplished educators and leaders is greater than ever. Twitter LogoTwitter seems to be talked about everywhere nowadays. In fact, Twitter's audience doubled both in March and in April. If you haven't heard family, friends, or colleagues mention Twitter, you surely have heard it spoken of on television by the likes of Larry King, Barbara Walters, or Oprah.

Lots of people admit to "not getting" Twitter. As a result, according to Nielsen 60% of U.S. Twitter users don't return to Twitter after a month. Twitter's value to busy teachers isn't apparent and many ask why they would bother with Twitter.
